For $75 AU you get a pretty cool apartment in Split with your own bathroom and a shared courtyard. It’s five minutes walk to the port and ferries and city restaurants and shops. The old Roman Palace is about ten minutes away. Split is a cool town to spend 4 or 5 days in, and Mainz Apartments is a decent enough place to stay.

The apartment is on the small side, as is the bathroom, but the communal balcony gives you a little more space. There’s no kitchen, so you have to eat out. However, there’s a little bar fridge. Literally ten meters down the lane-way out front is a cool little restaurant. I can recommend the chicken fillets with mushrooms with a side of beans and a tall beer all for $15 AU. If you walk down to the beach, about five minutes, you can find another awesome local restaurant called Buffet Fife, which also has rad food. The room has access to free wi-fi internet, but you have to be close to the window to get it. If you’re into going to the gym, you should walk/run 2km to Bacvice Beach. The gym is literally right on the beach and is an awesome workout. The price is awesome too, $6 AU a shot!
