Value for money: 1.8/5
For $54 AU for two people, a car and a tent, Camping Cala Gonone is a bloody rip-off. On the other side of Sardinia, at Porto Tramatzu, you can camp on a paradise beach for half the price! At Camp Calagonone, there are no swimming beaches within walking distance. There’s a good view from the port and plenty of posh/expensive restaurants to eat at.

Cleanliness: 3/5
The facilities were really clean, I’ll give ’em that.

Wireless internet is available, for $7 AU an hour – bloody rip-off! There’s an old Windows 95 cathode-ray-tube monitor computer to share with everyone else. Good thing is there’s lots of shade and a basketball and tennis court. Oh, there’s a pool, but you’d better hope you’re there in July or August, because we got there at the beginning of September and the thing was bone-dry. The bar, restaurant and market are great.

Location: 3/5
There’s a lot to do in the general area (including hiring a boat to secret beaches) but your best-bet is to stay somewhere else so you can hike to a bottomless-pit and a mini-Grand Canyon, which is nowhere near this place. There doesn’t seem to be any campsites close by. Like, within 50km.

Staff: 2.6/5
Reception speaks english and is quite friendly and helpful.
